Remember the Fallen Ones...

…For They Will Rise Again.
Betrayed and reeling from a deadly fall, Lucian Roux must decide: save the realm or seek true freedom. With a fiery sorceress and a fluffy-tailed goddess, his journey leads through The Talis Mountains and The Fallen Realm, where truths blur and destiny calls.
Philippians 2:13
“On the run for a crime he didn’t commit, Lucian Roux must confront a dark entity within and a world that demands more than he’s willing to pay.”
“With enemies closing in and a prophecy pulling him deeper, Lucian Roux must decide: save the realm or risk it all for the freedom he craves.”
If you like stories filled with magic, a talking sword, ancient curses and prophecies, I definitely recommend this series to be added to your list of TBR!
Lucian Roux, since the age of four, was thrust into a world that condemns him for being a Reincarnate of the ancient Fallen god, Morpheus; and he didn't ask to be! My poor boy Lucian just can’t catch a break 😭 He is so isolated and abused by his community and his father. Without much spoiling, Lucian later finds himself escaping death at every turn and runs into a boy who just might be his very FIRST friend (bring out the box of tissues folks 🤧). Who can Lucian trust? What mysteries and secrets lie with the Fallen and Risen gods of the past? Who is Aaron (beautifully brooding and snarky) really? Can he truly be trusted? These are the thoughts that plague me as I continue to read along Lucian’s transforming journey.
Super fun read—Lucian is a character easy to love. He is fourteen, pure hearted, and just trying to deal with his lot in life. Through his adventures he meets friends, mentors, and of course, enemies—all of which have been richly developed in a creative fantasy world. The major themes include friendship, adventure, good and evil, and forgiveness. I would consider this CLEAN fantasy, appropriate for younger readers. The formatting is also reader friendly with plenty of spacing.
Among the Fallen is a captivating fantasy debut that had me hooked from the first chapter. Once I started reading, I didn’t put this book down until I finished it. Makena Song builds a vivid world full of ancient prophecy and unforgettable characters. I thought Lucian Roux was a relatable and engaging character, and his journey alongside several unlikely friends, especially Aaron, was both fun and emotional.
The story strikes a great balance between action, humor, and heart. The writing flows smoothly with just the right touch of mystery.
If you’re a fan of immersive fantasy with strong character dynamics and a touch of the unexpected, this is a must-read. I can’t wait to see where this series goes next and I’ve already started reading Among the Risen.
